Ingredients

1 pound ground chicken

1 cup fresh spinach, chopped

1 cup white cheddar cheese, shredded

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)

1/4 cup onion, finely diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large egg

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

4 whole wheat burger buns

Olive oil (for cooking)

Lettuce, tomato, and additional toppings as desired

Instructions

Prepare the Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped spinach, shredded white cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, diced onion, minced garlic, egg, Dijon mustard, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). Mix until just combined; do not overmix to keep the burgers tender.

Form the Patties: Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to help them cook evenly.

Chill: Place the patties on a plate and refrigerate for about 15 minutes. This will help them hold their shape while cooking.

Cook the Patties: Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium heat and add a small drizzle of olive oil. Once hot, carefully place the patties in the pan. Cook for about 5–6 minutes on each side, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and the outside is golden brown.

Toast the Buns: While the patties are cooking, you can toast the burger buns in the same pan or on a separate skillet until lightly golden.

Assemble the Burgers: Once the patties are cooked, place each patty on a toasted bun. Top with lettuce, tomato, and any other toppings you prefer, such as avocado or a drizzle of ranch dressing.

Serve: Enjoy your White Cheddar and Spinach Chicken Burgers hot off the grill with your favorite side, like sweet potato fries or a fresh salad.
