Ingredients

12 oz (340g) penne pasta

1 lb (450g) Italian sausage (sweet or spicy, casings removed)

2 tbsp olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce

1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

1 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

1/4 cup green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)

Salt and pepper to taste

Grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Brown the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add the Italian sausage, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

Sauté Garlic: Add the minced garlic to the skillet with the sausage. Sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Pour this mixture into the skillet with the sausage and garlic.

Add the Pasta: Stir in the cooked penne pasta and cherry tomatoes, tossing everything together until the pasta is thoroughly coated with the sticky honey garlic sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes to heat through and allow the flavors to meld.

Season and Serve: Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper as needed. Garnish with chopped green onions and fresh basil. Serve with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
