Ingredients

3 ripe bananas, mashed

1/4 cup honey or maple syrup

1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce

2 large eggs, beaten

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup whole wheat flour

1/2 cup rolled oats

1 scoop (about 30g) vanilla protein powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, honey (or maple syrup), applesauce, beaten eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix well until smooth.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, rolled oats, protein powder, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Add Optional Ingredients: If desired, fold in the chopped walnuts or pecans and dark chocolate chips for added texture and flavor.

Transfer to Pan: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top evenly.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 45-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool: Once baked, remove from the oven and let the banana bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Slice & Serve: Once cooled, slice the banana bread into 10 pieces. Each slice has approximately 10 grams of protein.
