For the Loaf:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup peeled and diced apples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

For the Cinnamon Swirl Mixture:

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1 tbsp ground cinnamon

1 tbsp all-purpose flour

2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan.

    Prepare the dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt. Set aside.

      Cream the butter and sugar: In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.

        Add eggs and vanilla: Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract until fully combined.

          Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter and sugar mixture, alternating with buttermilk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
