Ingredients

4 slices of thick bread (brioche or challah works best)

2 large eggs

1/2 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 tablespoons brown sugar

Fresh berries (optional, for garnish)

Maple syrup (for drizzling)

Instructions

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter. Once melted, add the brown sugar and stir until it starts to dissolve.

Place the slices of bread in the skillet, allowing them to soak in the caramel mixture for about 1-2 minutes on each side, until golden brown and caramelized. Be careful not to let them burn.

Once cooked, remove the French toast from the skillet and set aside. Repeat with the remaining butter and bread.

Serve the caramelized French toast warm, topped with fresh berries and a generous drizzle of maple syrup.
