Ingredients

For the Chicken Cordon Bleu:

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

8 slices of Swiss cheese

8 slices of ham (preferably prosciutto for a gourmet touch)

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs, beaten

1 cup breadcrumbs (ideally panko for extra crunch)

Salt and pepper, to taste

Olive oil or melted butter, for frying

For the Creamy Swiss Cheese Sauce:

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Swiss cheese

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken:

    - Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

      - Place each chicken breast between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound them to about 1/2 inch thickness using a meat mallet or rolling pin.

        Assemble the Chicken Cordon Bleu:

          - Season both sides of the flattened chicken breasts with salt and pepper.

            - Layer 2 slices of ham and 2 slices of Swiss cheese on top of each chicken breast. Roll the chicken tightly, starting from one end and securing with toothpicks if needed.

              Bread the Chicken:

                - Set up a breading station: place the flour in one shallow dish, the beaten eggs in another, and the breadcrumbs in a third.

                  - Dredge each chicken roll in the flour, shaking off excess, then dip in the beaten eggs, and finally coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs.

                    Cook the Chicken:

                      - In a large skillet, heat olive oil or melted butter over medium heat. Carefully add the chicken rolls and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 4-5 minutes each side.

                        - Transfer the browned chicken rolls to a baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F/75°C).

Prepare the Creamy Swiss Cheese Sauce:

                            - In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the heavy cream, grated Swiss cheese, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

                              - Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

                                Serve:

                                  - Remove the chicken from the oven and allow it to rest for a few minutes before slicing.

                                    - Drizzle the creamy Swiss cheese sauce over the chicken rolls and garnish with fresh chopped parsley.

                                      - Serve alongside steamed vegetables or a fresh salad for a delightful meal.
