Ingredients

8 oz fettuccine pasta

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Juice of 1/2 lemon

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the fettuccine according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water.

Sauté the Shrimp: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the shrimp, season with salt and pepper, and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they turn pink and are cooked through. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Prepare the Sauce: In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using), and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Create Creamy Base: Pour in the heavy cream, stirring to combine, and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes. Add the Parmesan cheese and mix until melted and smooth. If the sauce is too thick, add some reserved pasta water until desired consistency is reached.

Combine Pasta and Shrimp: Add the cooked fettuccine to the skillet with the creamy sauce, tossing to coat evenly. Gently fold in the shrimp and squeeze the lemon juice over the top.

Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley over the pasta and garnish with additional Parmesan cheese if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!
