Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/2 cup milk

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups apples, peeled, cored, and diced (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

1-2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.

Prepare the Apples: In a medium bowl, toss the diced apples with lemon juice and set aside.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, mix the melted butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until fully blended.

Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the flour mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.

Fold in Apples: Gently fold the diced apples into the batter, ensuring they are evenly distributed.

Prepare for Baking: In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and nutmeg.

Layer the Batter: Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan, sprinkle half of the brown sugar mixture over it, then add the remaining batter and top with the rest of the brown sugar mixture.

Swirl: Use a knife to gently swirl the layers together for a beautiful marbled effect.

Bake: Place the loaf pan in the oven and bake for 55-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool: Once baked, remove from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Prepare the Glaze: In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar with 1-2 tablespoons of milk until you reach your desired glaze consistency. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled loaf.

Serve and Enjoy: Slice the bread and enjoy warm or at room temperature with a cup of coffee or tea!
