Ingredients

2 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a large bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter, mixing well until combined.

Add the brown sugar to the mixture, stirring until incorporated.

Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Once baked, remove the bars from the oven and allow them to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Cut into squares and serve. Enjoy your delicious Chocolate Chip Banana Bars!
