Ingredients

1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

1 tablespoon soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 bell pepper (red or green), sliced

1 medium onion, sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon ginger, minced

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon sugar

Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Steamed jasmine rice, for serving

Green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, combine the beef slices with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Toss to coat evenly and let marinate for about 15 minutes.

Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned but not fully cooked through. Remove the beef and set it aside.

In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and bell pepper, stir-frying for about 3-4 minutes until they start to soften.

Add the minced garlic and ginger to the skillet. Stir and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Return the beef to the skillet, and add sesame oil, sugar, and black pepper. Stir fry together for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the beef is cooked through and the vegetables are tender-crisp.

Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can mix a little more cornstarch with water and add it to the dish, stirring until thickened.

Serve over steamed jasmine rice and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.
