Ingredients

2 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup brown sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Prepare the Batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and mashed bananas. Use a whisk to mix well until fully combined.

Mix in Sugar and Eggs: Add in the brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and homogenous.

Add Dry Ingredients: Sprinkle the salt, baking soda, flour, and cocoa powder over the wet mixture. Use a spatula to fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.

Incorporate Add-Ins (if desired): Gently fold in chocolate chips and chopped nuts if you're using them.

Pour into Pan: Spread the brownie batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.

Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.

Cool and Serve: Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and enjoy!
