Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (preferably lean)

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

1 medium carrot, finely chopped

1 red bell pepper, finely chopped

4 green onions, chopped (whites and greens separated)

3 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon Sriracha (adjust for spice preference)

1 head of butter or romaine lettuce, leaves separated and rinsed

Optional toppings: chopped peanuts, cilantro, lime wedges

Instructions

Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and Sriracha. Set aside.

Cook the beef: In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.

Sauté vegetables: Add the minced garlic, ginger, carrot, red bell pepper, and the white parts of the green onions to the skillet. Sauté for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender.

Add the sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the beef mixture in the skillet. Stir well to combine and let cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Prepare the lettuce wraps: Take a lettuce leaf and spoon a generous amount of the beef mixture into the center.

Garnish: Top with chopped peanuts, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime if desired.

Serve: Enjoy the lettuce wraps fresh and warm. They can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
